posted Monday 4th December 2006 at 01:25 by Ant & Pip
Quite a big website update for you now! Our very own Doctor Who news page is now open for business! We hope to keep our members updated with the very latest in Doctor Who info and gossip, and if you have any news to contribute, please do so on our forum, as we do get news from there, if we haven't got it first. The original poster and the source WILL be credited. The page itself does not have RSS yet, but it is something that we are looking into for the future.

We hope you've had a chance to read Paul Clement's great Fifth Doctor story yet, if you haven't, go to the Fan Fiction section now! And to accompany the story, you can now read the author's notes, which provide a little insight into the story and what goes on during the creative process of writing. So enjoy!

Friday is Fan Fiction day!

Friday 1st December is the next big day on the PS calendar, because we've got an exclusive for you - a brand new Fifth Doctor, Tegan & Turlough adventure called Darkness on the Edge of Town, written by long-standing PS poster Paul Clement! The piece will mark the opening of our very own fan fiction section, to be managed by forum moderator & generally fantastic bloke Paul Monk. We're after your creative juices, and if you fancy submitting your own original stories to the website, he's the man to contact! We hope you'll enjoy Paul Clement's story though, we think it's great. Here's a little preview for now...
It's 1798 and the small town of Leaguesford, quietly nestled in the
countryside of southern England, is about to disappear.
Lord Marwood is concerned for his youngest son, Sebastian.
The young man has recently returned from his travels abroad
and is scarcely the son his father remembers.
The Doctor arrives, eager to find the cause of the town's
disappearance, but soon finds himself embroiled in local events.
While Turlough makes a friend in Alexander, the eldest son of Lord
Marwood, Tegan decides to let her investigative nature come
to the
fore. But sinister forces are building within the quiet town and soon,
all three of the TARDIS crew find themselves in a battle for their lives...
and perhaps their souls.
What is the darkness that is descending upon Leaguesford and
how does it connect to a race of ancient beings who once held
sway over the Earth long before the advent of man?

Big thank you to Ralph, Ant W, Si Hunt, Steve & Michael for sharing the pics with us. And don't forget the video diary, available in the Temple forum. Thank You & Into The Vortex!

Hello! First off, a thank you from the Mods and Admins - it's been a very successful start for us at our new home - we've had nearly 2,000 posts in the first 72 hours of operation! So thank you very much for getting into the swing of things, we're really pleased you've taken to the new look PS.
Now, onto business. Kenny (aka MacNimon) has had a great idea in the Original Series forum, and we think it deserves some promotion! The plan is to find out what our favourite Doctor Who stories are, by ranking every story out of ten, season by season, week by week. We think it's a smashing idea, so why not help out and rank the first season right now!

Does the original Dalek story do it for you? Or do you prefer a long-winded but magical Journey to Cathay? Are those Sensorites as boring as people make out? And what about the Voord? We plan to collect the results and save them in the PS archive for posterity, so go forth and tell us! :-)
PS Meet Highlights
posted Friday November 24th 2006 at 13:10 by Pip
Last Saturday, the big Planet Skaro meet of 2006 took place at The Liberty Bounds publc house in London, and it was fab! Lots of laughter and conversation, it was probably the best meet in PS history, and you can relive it with the photos and video footage we'll be putting on the website this weekend! Photos should be available tomorrow, but the first part of the official 'documentary' video is now available to watch in our Temple of Secrets forum! We've had to put it in there, as there's some choice language at times, but very funny! Parts two & three will be posted on Saturday and Sunday.
Open All Hours!

Months in the planning, now the day is finally here - welcome to the brand new Planet Skaro website! It's taken a lot of time and energy (and quite a few litres of alcohol, or is that just Ant?), but at last, we're finally ready, and we thank you for joining us, as PS moves into a exciting new era. A big big big thank you to those who generously donated towards this - you know who you are, and we love you! Thank you for making the ezBoard years of Planet Skaro such a memorable place. We’ve had some fine times, with lots of fun and games.

The brand new forum, licenced from vBulletin and hosted on our own webspace, is now open, ready for you to register an account and say hello! Before you do though, a few things:
- The old PS forum at ezBoard will still be available to browse - contact Ant for info.
- Please read the forum Code Of Conduct before posting.
- Unlike before, we no longer require you to join/login to view our forum, but it is mandatory if you wish to post. We understand some of you may not be too happy with this, but the decision has been taken to try & attract new posters to our community. However, two forums will remain visible to registered members only- 'The Centre of Leisure' (for personal discussion) and, for obvious reasons, our adult section 'Temple of Secrets'. To access the latter, you will need to specifically apply for access - click here for more details.
- We will not be vetting membership applications, so when you register you will be able to get stuck in and post straight away. Of course, our team of forum moderators will be monitoring new members, keeping an eye on things. Please make sure you only register once - we frown upon multiple usernames.
- In need of an Doctor Who-ey avatar? We've provided dozens here but if you wish to add your own, you can do so via your User Control Panel (far left at the top of the forum).
Also, as you're probably very aware, our accompanying website is also open for business, but you may find certain areas of it are still under construction (mainly the Archive section). Rest assured, we will be adding new content on a regular basis, so keep an eye open here for updates. Finally, if you're wondering who takes care of things round here, why not take a look at our Meet The Staff page. There's photos of us and everything...
No, don't be scared. Bye for now! :-)
